Bienvenido al curso masivo, abierto y en línea (MOOC, por sus siglas en inglés) “Riesgo y seguridad en el periodismo en América Latina: Pasos prácticos para la autoprotección”, impartido por el Centro Knight para el Periodismo en las Américas de la Universidad de Texas en Austin y la International Women’s Media Foundation. Este es un curso gratuito y abierto a cualquier persona en cualquier parte del mundo que tenga interés en aprender lo básico sobre cómo definir y evaluar su seguridad como periodista mediante el uso de herramientas desarrolladas por diferentes organizaciones en el mundo.
Neste curso, você mergulhará no mundo da checagem de fatos. Em 4 semanas, você aprenderá a história do fact-checking, discutirá algumas situações da vida real (especialmente com foco em COVID-19 e governança) em tempos de pandemia, aprenderá ferramentas necessárias para desmascarar peças desinformativas e estudará o Código de Ética da International Fact-Checking Network (Rede Internacional de Checagem de Fatos, IFCN). Você também terá uma visão geral das últimas tentativas de regulamentação para combate à desinformação tanto na região quanto no mundo.

This course provides the fundamental skills required to launch and maintain a newsletter through a standard product life cycle. Students will learn how a newsletter can fit into their work product and serve their audience. They will pick up the practical knowledge required to launch a newsletter, as well as the specifics around revenue models and subscriber growth. Finally, students will learn how to maintain a newsletter over time, and when appropriate, bring the newsletter to an end.

In this course, you will learn the basics of telling stories with geographic data. We’ll share geographic concepts and best practices from a journalist’s perspective, including what types of datasets make good maps. Then, we’ll dive into practical skills — how to use free GIS (Geographic Information System) software to explore, analyze and visualize data. We’ll include links, tips and tricks for taking your geographic data skills to the next level.Upon completion of this course, you will be able to think critically about when to use geographic data for storytelling and apply your skills to analyze geographic data and make your own maps.
