The refresher course on law titled Evolutions in Legal Pedagogy will trace recent legal developments, inform on technical innovations in order to equip law teachers to practice critical teaching in law. The rapid growth of specializations has resulted in a fragmented understanding of the legal field. In order to reverse this trend, the course has been constructed to enhance general legal understanding. To that end it aims to inform scholars of those contemporary legal developments and controversies which all scholars of law need to know irrespective of their area specialisation. The course aims to promote inter-disciplinary learning by demonstrating how the knowledge created in other disciplines can be used to deepen legal learning; and intra-disciplinary understanding by showing how developments in one field of law impacts on allied fields.

Awareness on "Biosafety Aspects of GE Plants"

The course on “Biosafety Aspects of GE Plants” has been prepared as part of UNEP/GEF supported Phase II Capacity Building Project on Biosafety implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India. Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL) served as the Project Coordination Unit (PCU).The objective of the project is to strengthen biosafety management system in India with a view to ensure adequate level of protection for transfer, handling and use of living modified organisms also referred to as genetically modified organisms. The project activities focused on four thrust areas viz. risk assessment and risk management (RARM), handling, transport, packaging and identification (HTPI), socio economic consideration (SEC) and enhancing public awareness (PA).The course modules are based on the “Biosafety Resource Kit” consisting of five brochures on important biosafety aspects and guidance documents prepared under the project. BCIL is the technical agency for development of e-course. Centre for e-Learning, Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa (SGTB) College, University of Delhi designed the course. The following aspects are covered:1. Introduction to GE plants2. Regulatory framework for GE plants3. Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety4. Confined field trials of GE plants5. Food safety assessment for GE plants6. Environment safety assessment for GE plantsThe course is available in two languages i.e. English and Hindi and are available as Unit- 1 and Unit-2.This course on “Biosafety Aspects of GE Plants” has been prepared for students, teachers and other stakeholders under the component on enhancing public awareness in understanding biosafety aspects based on factual information.

ICMR-National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE) offers NIE-ICMR-WHO online course : Ethics Review of Health Research. This is second in the series of NIE ICMR e-certificate courses (NIeCer 102). The course is technically supported by the World Health Organization (WHO), India. The course will provide the fundamentals of ethical issues in biomedical research involving human participants and provide updates on research ethics guidelines in India.This is a self-paced course. About the course: Indian Council of Medical Research [ICMR], National Institute of Epidemiology [NIE], has been offering online programs on bio-medical and public health research- the ‘NIE-ICMR e-Certificate’ – NieCer courses since 2016. The third in this series, NIeCer 103: Scientific Writing in Health Research, is a course on scientific writing for health researchers.
