Desktop GIS is designed for the new user of geographic information systems software, beginning with the basics of mapping, using ESRI Desktop GIS 10.x software. The lessons are taught through short screencasts, where the step-by-step processes are shown. There are assignments every week, usually PDFs of completed maps. Badges are awarded at milestones in the course and a certificate can be earned by completing all assigned work.
The course discusses the 2014 congressional elections for the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate. We will cover campaign strategies, the role of the media, campaign finance, and the impact of the 2014 elections on American public policy, the last two years of President Obama\''s term, the 2016 presidential election. We will also examine some specific races in both the House and Senate.
