By the end of the course, you will understand common signs and expressions, signed slowly and clearly, that relate to yourself, family life and work, and the immediate environment.You will also be able to express yourself in simple terms, ask simple questions about everyday topics, and use expressions and simple phrases to describe well-known places. By learning about sign language, and the reality of the deaf community, both the hearing and the deaf can put an end to social exclusion.Catalan Sign Language as an object of linguistic studyWith interest consistently increasing in linguistics and sign language being a compelling area of study, Catalan Sign Language is a valuable research area for the world’s (sign language) linguists.During the course you will examine a variety of Catalan Sign Language characteristics, including basic components of grammar such hand configuration, place of articulation, and movement; morphology, such as concordance and expression of plural; and finally basic syntax, such as word order.This course is designed for anyone, both hearing and deaf, interested in sign languages and in particular in Catalan Sign Language (LSC). Previous study of LSC isn’t required. It will be taught in Catalan Sign Language with transcription in English, Catalan and Spanish.

El curso hace un pequeño repaso a las principales herramientas de Fabricación Digital (impresión3D, corte láser, escáneo 3D, fresado de circuitos, etc) y a su posible aplicación como herramientas pedagógicas para los centros educativos, todo ello enmarcado en el concepto de FabLab, que además de las herramientas incluye la disposición del espacio y una cierta visión del uso de la tecnología (abierto, compartir, learning by doing). El curso es una propuesta a los centros para que desarrollen su propio espacio de fabricación digital y hagan partícipes a sus alumnos de iniciativas de proyectos tecnológicos.

Maestros de la Poesía Hispánica

Este curso plantea un recorrido por los grandes maestros de la poesía hispánica a partir de dos de los períodos más importantes de la historia de la literatura española: los Siglos de Oro (ss. XVI y XVII) y la Edad Moderna (primera mitad del s. XX). Cada poeta se ubicará en su contexto cultural y tradición a la que pertenece, y se analizará una parte de su obra más representativa. Asimismo, se abordará la relevancia de los autores clásicos en la poesía del siglo XX, y se examinarán algunos de los aspectos teóricos más importantes de la lírica (la imagen poética, la simbología mística, el poema extenso no épico…), a través del ejemplo de los autores tratados.De esta forma, la estructura del curso estará edificada alrededor de ocho nombres clave para la poesía hispánica: Garcilaso de la Vega, San Juan de la Cruz, Góngora, Quevedo, Rubén Darío, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Pablo Neruda, y Jorge Luis Borges.

La 3ª edad de oro de la televisión

En cada unidad se abordará un eje temático –por ejemplo la ciudad y la frontera, los mundos fantásticos, la comunicación y la política, etc.- a partir del análisis de dos series televisivas. Cada unidad se abre con un vídeo de 15’ a cargo de C. A. Scolari y J. Carrión y continúa con dos entrevistas de 15’ cada una a investigadores y expertos; cada uno de ellos analiza una serie de televisión. Este material audiovisual se complementa con dos textos por unidad (artículos o capítulos de libro). Todos estos contenidos se debatirán en la plataforma y, al final de cada unidad, se realizarán las correspondientes evaluaciones.

Descripción de curso Cante Flamenco Tech integra las tecnologías actuales de análisis de sonido y música en su aplicación a uno de los aspectos más característicos del cante flamenco como son sus recursos vocales. Para ello, se propone un enfoque interdisciplinar que integra los ámbitos de la acústica, el procesado de sonido y el canto. En este curso presentamos una serie de recursos vocales del flamenco mediante explicaciones teóricas y ejemplos prácticos, todo ello ilustrado con visualizaciones hechas con tecnologías actuales de análisis de grabaciones. La intención es poder entender tanto la anatomía del instrumento de la voz como los recursos usados para representar cada adorno, creando una base teórica y práctica sobre el funcionamiento de la voz cantada, así como las tecnologías que se usan para su análisis. Este curso va dirigido a cualquier persona interesada en el flamenco y en la tecnología, donde aprenderán a apreciar y a cantar flamenco. El objetivo de este curso no es aprender contabilidad, como no lo es de quien desea saber conducir un coche aprender mecánica. El contable y el auditor ya harán su función, el directivo de una institución privada o pública ha de comprender los números que éstos elaboran para poder analizarlos y tomar decisiones. A través de varios videos se va introduciendo a los participantes en los aspectos clave con la ayuda de un caso de creación de una empresa. Se crea la empresa de cero y se va entendiendo cómo se va generando el balance inicial. Luego se introduce la cuenta de resultados. Se explican los conceptos básicos de análisis de la tesorería (cash-flow, cobros y pagos vs. Ingresos y gastos, etc.) y de rentabilidad. A medida que van pasando los años en el caso se van introduciendo las cuatro (4) variables clave para detectar si una empresa es viable o no: Beneficios “suficientes”, tesorería positiva, rentabilidades “adecuadas” y balance equilibrado. En los dos últimos vídeos se analizan los “estados de flujos de efectivo” y los “ratios de endeudamiento” de una empresa.

North Indian Classical Music III: Performance Practice

A Hindustani Classical Music performance acquires that mystical element mainly due to its improvisational nature. However, the form and structure of a performance is quite well-defined, and followed by all irrespective of the style.This course begins with explaining the structure of the two basic forms most prevalent today, the Khayal for Vocal performance, and the Alaap, Jod, Jhala and Gat for some instruments.Later on, the course delves into how a composition is used as a platform to develop and expand on the Raga. Ample demonstration explains how various musical material is created for the purpose, ranging from the slow melodic designs, Alaap, to fast embellishments, the Taan, which become the primary improvisational tools. Lastly, the course also goes on to explain the accompaniment on the harmonium or the sarangi, and the role of the tanpura.In addition to quizzes and assessment exercises, this course uses guided listening sessions to explain the performances, and also contains listening and practice lessons to help students experience more Ragas.This course was developed in collaboration with Ragasphere and practical performance assignments are powered by MusicCritic.

North Indian Classical Music II: Raga Composition and Development

This course takes a student beyond the basic physical construction of the Raga and Tala, and helps understand the aesthetic principles, which are later used for development during a performance.The course begins with a closer and more detailed look at the Raga, and explains the concepts of Chalan of a Raga, and the relative importance of musical notes used, through the Vaadi and Samvaadi swara. Later on, the course will explain the language of the Tabla, and how this is used to aesthetically structure the Awartan of the Tala. This also explains how the Tala is expressed as a Theka for a Khayal accompaniment.The two frames of the Raga and the Tala come together to form the Bandish, the composition. The course explains the need for this, and how this happens, with a lyric also being included in the composition.The continuous spectrum of the tempo of compositions, ranging from the slowest, the Vilambit, through the Madhya, on to the fastest, the Druta is explained through illustrations. We then go on to understand the internal structure of the Bandish, and how the Bandish becomes a tool for development during a performance.In addition to quizzes and assessment exercises, this course also contains practice lessons to reinforce concepts that are discussed.This course was developed in collaboration with Ragasphere and practical performance assignments are powered by MusicCritic.
