Food Safety and Quality Control

Food Safety and Quality Control

0

Satisfactory food supply has always been a central problem for governments since the formation ancient societies several thousand years ago. Although many of the same foods are still produced and consumed, dietary preferences have changed over the centuries due to the development of the economy and the science of nutrition. Today every consumer requires a safe and healthy food supply. The primary role of our food is to provide enough nutrients to fulfill metabolic requirements, while giving us a feeling of satisfaction and well being. In addition recent investigations confirmed the hypothesis recognized even in 500 B.C. by Hippocrates, that beyond nutrition, diet may modulate various functions of the body. Consequently adequate food consumption may promote the state of well being, better health and prevention of diseases. So it is understandable that interest in healthy food and food quality and its regulation is growing worldwide. When a product is offered for sale, the purchaser expects the product to be what it is purported to be: genuine and wholesome, and free from adulteration and contamination. Correct information about the composition and nutritive value of a food product is designed to protect the consumer from adulteration and falsification, and requires a well organized quality control infrastructure and food regulations.

About Course :This course is designed to provide the candidates a good understanding about the atmospheric and oceanographic phenomenon. The study of Elements of Climate and the factors influencing the distribution of temperature and pressure are the key aspects covered. Apart from that the Heat budget, Insolation, Air masses, Fronts, Ocean currents are other interesting topics which enlighten the candidates to have a complete picture about the atmosphere and hydrosphere. This paper also explains how closely these two are associated with each other to determine the world climate and there by the life on this earth.Learners outcomes:• The students should be able to differentiate between weather and climate.• The students should be able to understand the horizontal and vertical distribution of temperature.• The students should be able to describe the relationship between air pressure and wind direction in cyclonic and anticyclonic movement.• The students should be able to describe tropical air masses and how they move and to describe what happens when different air masses meet.• The students should be able to explain how storms form, the relationship between jet stream position and storm movement, and make the distinction between warm fronts and cold fronts.About Course ModulesThere are totally 30 modules. Each module covers one topics, and three modules are completed in a week. Each topic consists of classroom Video with background graphics. Text material in the form of Power point and other material such as, Objectives, Summary, Glossary, FAQ, References, Transcript, Assignments and Quiz. The candidates can easily learn through this material without any difficulty to understand. Structural System in Architecture

Structural System in Architecture

0

The structural engineering is an essential component of Architecture. The creativity and imagination of an architect come to reality by adopting a suitable structural system.Architects should understand the basic principles and concepts of structure in order to apply the structural system suitably. It is also needed for an Architect to communicate effectively with consultants and contractors about the conceived structural system. The course is designed to explain structural concepts clearly, using analogies and examples. The mathematical part of the course is formulated to establish a logical understanding of structural behaviour, bypassing the complexity of calculations. This course is designed in eight weeks and the whole course is divided into two components. Initially, in the first four weeks, the fundamental aspects of structural theories will be discussed. It will include the following four subtopics: statics and structural systems, the strength of material, structural mechanics and structural analysis. In the second part of the course (remaining four weeks), various types of structural systems like a truss, space frame, plates, shell, tensile structure etc will be discussed. The conceptual development of the structural system will be explained with examples, case studies and possible architectural applications. The special structural system adopted for high-rise buildings will be also present with the examples from contemporary architecture. The last module will include the Bureau of Indian Stranded provisions for structural detailing for project submissions. The key features of the course: The course is specially designed for the students of architecture for developing their basic structural concept without difficulty. The lectures will explain structural concepts clearly, using real-life examples and illustrations. The course demonstration will express the mathematical aspects of thesubject in a straightforward, easier and logical way. · The structural theories will be discussed in conceptual way with minimum mathematical computation. The prime focus will be to understand the structural system, its advantages and application in architectural design.INTENDED AUDIENCE:ArchitecturePREREQUISITES:No Pre-requisitesINDUSTRIES SUPPORT:Not Applicable

Consumer Buyer Behaviour

Consumer Buyer Behaviour

0

By Prof. Ashish Hathi | L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development & ResearchThis course "Consumer Buyer Behaviour" is from Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research Its a 4 Credit Course.Consumer behaviour represents the behavioural context in which consumers operate while searching for, purchasing, using, evaluating and disposing of products and services that they expect will satisfy their needs. It covers both aspects namely to buy or not to buy, to use or not to use. All these happen within the context of their behavioural reference.Consumer behaviour study focuses to understand the way individuals decide, how individuals make decisions to spend their available scarce resources (like money, time and energy) on the chosen item for consumption.Such insights help marketers to develop a new product, position it correctly and develop appropriate promotional strategies.During consumer behaviour understanding, marketers try to find an answer to the numerous questions like why they must buy, besides how, when, from where they will buy and how often they may buy. This course will help participants to develop an ability to unlock the mind (the black box) which shapes his needs, motives, personality, attitude, perception and other aspects shaping his behaviour including buying behaviour. Learning will be equally relevant in today’s digital world. Post learning, participants will be better prepared to various marketing problems but also identify opportunities to grow in today’s growing competitive business. At the end of the course, students will be able to:Explain what consumer behaviour is, its nature and classificationDescribe the importance of consumer behaviour and the forces that drive change in it.Understand better ways to segment, needs and motivation dynamicsDecode how personality, perception and attitude shape buying behaviourApply research methodologies involved in data collection & analysis for both consumer research – quantitative & qualitativeKnow everything about the diffusion and Adoption of New Products & Consumer Decision MakingApply learning in their strategic marketing initiatives
