Participants in this course will explore various mobile apps (both iOS and Android) and gain familiarity on how to embed them meaningfully in various subject areas while, at the same time, supporting the Common Core Standards. Discussions will focus on sharing ideas, resources, and best practices for using mobile technologies in the classroom. For the culminating project, participants will develop a sample lesson utilizing the apps from the course or additional mobile apps they discovered and share the lesson with the class. In addition, this course is intended to be completed using ONLY a mobile tablet device, either iOS or Android.
English Learning Support Course is an English preparatory course focusing on the skills required for effective writing in a variety of contexts, with emphasis on exposition, analysis, and argumentation, and also including introductory use of a variety of research skills. This course was designed to prepare students to be successful in College Composition I courses.This course consists of videos, interactive discussions with peers and instructors, readings, and quizzes. Students can earn a badge for achieving at least 75% on the final test.
These five TLSS modules are perfect for parents, caregivers, teachers and community members who have limited free time and need to acquire technology skills right away. The modules teach practical application of digital tasks which have become very valuable and real. These modules make it feasible to gain job skill credentials on a computer or smartphone. Each module takes around 60 minutes to complete. Each module results in a badge. Five badges result in a complete course certificate. The badges and certificates are recognized by New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) and schools throughout New Mexico. These credentials can be used for resume building, skills development, and online learning opportunities. The modules are mostly in English, but contain many Spanish resources and options. Module assignments can be completed in English or Spanish.Parents and Caregivers is great for those who help children of any age with technology learning at home. It also helps those without children learn safe and beneficial ways to use technology.

This course provides important information about infection prevention and control (IPAC). If you are a caregiver, this knowledge will be important in keeping your care recipient and you safe. If you are not a caregiver, this knowledge is still extremely important. Divided into five modules, the course is self-paced and includes diverse learning materials, such as relevant readings, videos, short quizzes, and opportunities to practice various IPAC skills.
Welcome to “The Way Forward – Easing the Transition: Life Skills (Spring 2017)” Adjusting from military to civilian life can be both exciting and challenging for the member and family. Knowing what to expect and where to find assistance is important in creating a smooth transition to “Civvie Street”.The goal of the resources is to assist members in their transition to civilian life and provide a preliminary tool to access resources that support them and their family’s holistic needs during the crucial period of transitioning out of the military.The online resources will address key elements found when transitioning. The resources have been separated into five distinct units (Introduction, Family, Education and Employment, Mental Health and Resources). Found within these units are modules that will provide the material to help in the transition.The goal of the online resource is to lessen the stress and frustration associated with transitioning out of the military.
This course provides a focus on inquiry instruction through the use of Science and Engineering Practices for grade K to 16 teachers in science education. Students were immersed in the components of inquiry in the context of Science and Engineering Practices as described in the NRC Framework for K-12 Science Education. Course goals included the development and implementation of inquiry-based science lessons using Science and Engineering Practices; exploration of current issues regarding inquiry-based instruction and classroom research; and increased understanding of the role of assessment in an inquiry-based science classroom. Rich online discussions and ready-to-use strategies were also used to creative an active learning environment.

This course is for informal or formal caregivers interested in learning about the essentials of caregiving. These areas include but are not limited to the role of caregiver, health and medical information, complex issues (power of attorney, financial matters, family expectations and relationships), navigating systems, and self-care.Participants will benefit from the information provided in the course, optional discussions with others, and independent learning activities. The course has been developed by McMaster University’s Centre for Continuing Education, McMaster Institute on Aging (MIRA), and THRIVE Group with funding from the Ontario Ministry of Seniors Affairs. Ongoing offering of this course is in partnership with the Regional Geriatric Programs of Ontario.
Registration is open from November 3, 2014 until January 16, 2015.This course will provide participants with an overview of behavioral interventions for children and adults with autism spectrum disorders. Topics surveyed will include evidence-based treatment, discrete trial and naturalistic teaching, verbal behavior, alternative and augmentative communication, assessment and treatment of challenging behaviors, social skills instruction, adult and lifespan issues, and the professional discipline of behavior analysis. Upon completion of the course, participants will recognize the important characteristics of each of these types of interventions, and will share a brief project on an intervention of his or her choosing with the class.
